Women in Worship

We had a Women in Worship conference at our church this past weekend, led by Alisha Williamson Garcia. Good stuff! We talked about what worship is, and how we should worship. She followed the paths of the priests in the tabernacle, and what that means now, in Jesus.

It was very powerful. The part that stuck out to me the most, is the part where she spoke of flesh hooks. After one came in through the gate to the tabernacle, the brazen altar could be found. This altar was where the Isrealites offered up blood sacrifices for atonement of sin, and dedication of lives. This altar was used all the time, all day for the people. When Jesus died on the cross, he became the blood sacrifice for our sin. However, we are called to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice, our entire being, for God's will. When the priest noticed that the sacrifice was slipping off of the altar, he used flesh hooks to grab the sacrifice and pull it back into the fire to be consumed. Alica pointed out that we sometimes slip out the will of God, and off the "altar", and we should cry out to Jesus to use his "flesh hooks" to pull us back to the will. She pointed out that the tongue slips, the heart slips, etc.

There were many many good points about worship, about respecting God, and worshiping continously. I'm so glad I go to go. I may blog about more of them later. If you ever get a chance to go to one of her events, it was definatly worth it!
